Through its programs, the Metropolitan Improvement District is focused on providing a clean and safe urban environment in Downtown Seattle, positioning this vibrant city and its neighborhoods as the region’s premiere urban experience. Clean Team
The MID Clean Team provides cleaning services to ratepayers, visitors and workers within the five MID neighborhoods. Services, performed by MID Downtown Ambassadors part of the Clean Team, include:
- Daily sidewalk sweeping
- Sidewalk pressure washing
- Alley cleaning
- Trash collection
- Graffiti removal
- Leaf removal
Hospitality and Safety Team
The MID Hospitality and Safety Team acts as a resource and on-street concierge for the residents, workers and visitors within the five MID neighborhoods. Services, performed by MID Downtown Ambassadors part of the Hospitality and Safety Team, include:
- Bike and foot patrols by Downtown Ambassadors
- Youth Ambassadors
- Trespass enforcement
- Concierge assistance
- Transit information
- Referrals to human service programs
- E-alert notifications of Downtown rallies, protests, emergencies and events
- Public safety fairs and information for ratepayers
Destination Marketing
One goal of the MID is to enhance Downtown Seattle’s image as the region’s premier place to live, work, shop and play. These destination marketing efforts take place throughout the year and include:
- Public relations
- Retail promotions
- Advertising
- Community events
- Cultural development and production
Business Development and Market Research
The MID also strives to provide tools for effective business and economic development in Downtown Seattle. Business development and market research efforts by the MID include:

- Street-level business inventory and listings
