  • In October 2009, the average rent for apartments in Center City was $1,218, compared to $1,146 in the City of Seattle and in $1,033 in King County.

  • In 2009, Center City had 34,822 occupied housing units. This number represents 13% of total occupied housing units in the City of Seattle.

  • Center City occupied housing is 84% owner occupied; 16% rentals.

  • Nearly a quarter (22%) of housing in Center City is subsidized. As of August 2009, there were 10,077 existing units of subsidized housing units in Center City Seattle. This is 44% of the subsidized housing in the City of Seattle.

Dupre + Scott boundaries are:

Belltown - Broad St and Mercer St to the north, E Olive Way and 4th Ave to the east, Alaska Way to the west, and S. Jackson St to the south. The census tracts are: 72, 73, 80.01, 80.02, 81, and 92.

First Hill - 4th Ave to the east, Olive Way to the north, Broadway to the west, and Yesler Way to the south. The census tracts are: 82, 83, 84, and 85.

These two sets of boundaries along with the Capitol Hill /Eastlake boundaries encompass the majority of Center City.

 

  • Apartment and condominium developers completed 12 projects in 2009.

  • There are currently 10 apartment and condominium buildings under construction, which include 734 apartment units and 18 condominium units.

  • Since 2007, 2,772 apartment units and 2,311 condominium units have been completed.

  • Since 2007, Center City has added 812 units of senior housing and 229 units of subsidized housing. An additional 134 units of subsidized housing are currently under construction.
